The 2nd Edition of the Hawaian Arts Festival from June 27th to July 6th in Paris, France.
We are delighted to announce that the France-Hawai’i Association and Hālau Hula O Mānoa will be presenting their third Hawai’i Arts Festival in Paris this year from June 22 to July 8, 2018.
We will be featuring our sister hālau, Hālau Mele from Honolulu, Hawai’i, with workshops (dance, chant, language, music), performances, an exhibition of contemporary Hawaiian art and lectures on the Hawaiian ecosystem and on surfing. The accent this year will be on the deeply traditional aspects of Hawaiian dance, arts and crafts, with an emphasis on cultural protocols.
In partnership with other French associations, there will also be stand-up paddle courses, workshops and storytelling for children, as well as a parade with giant puppets representing historical and mythological characters and animals of Hawai’i.
HO’OLAULE’A EUROPA
Hula seems to be taking root and growing here in Europe, so far away from Hawai’i, on the other side of the world! There are more and more of us scattered across the Old Continent, dancing, chanting, delving into Hawaiian culture, spreading aloha in many different places. As a way of meeting, exchanging and getting to know each other, we would like to invite all of our European hula sisters and brothers to join us in a special Ho’olaule’a: a friendly and informal evening of dancing and celebrating hula amongst ourselves.
E hula mai kākou ma Palisa! Let’s dance together in Paris!
