Kalama Cabin born and raised in Kapahulu, O'ahu, Hawai'i. Kalama Cabigon is Kahu/Kahuna Pule (guide, shaman), storyteller, singer, musician and poet. He has spent much of his life immersed in the teachings of Hawaiian culture. With the Kumu Hula John Keolamakaʻāinana Lake, Kalama honed his skills in song and Hawaiian storytelling. He is an expert on Hawaiian history and mythology. As a Kahu, he participates in many ceremonies in Hawai'i.
Kalama has honed his skills in chanting and telling traditional Hawaiian tales, through a series of diverse performances throughout the Hawaiian Islands. A member of the musical group Kupaʻāina, he has translated his love of Hawaiian music into a contemporary adaptation influenced by rock, hiphop and reggae, while maintaining a deep connection to the Hawaiian experience. As an actor, Mr. Cabigon is one performers to have toured with Ka Hālau Hanakeaka, an exceptional group specializing in the performance of plays entirely in the Hawaiian language. He has done voice overs for several animation projects and has performed and toured with Halau Hana Keaka...He also proferred narrations in Hawaiian and English at the Mary Kawena Pukui Storytelling Festival at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu.
